What you probably haven’t found is someone to talk with, someone who can help you put all that information together in a way that is meaningful to you, that will help you get what you’ve been doing all that surfing for—to get a truer, closer more personal connection with God.

Chassidic works teach that we need to plead to God for good counsel and advice, so that we will know what we need to do to be better Jews. Getting good Torah-based advice is a tikkun, a remedy and a fixing, for self, community and humankind. They teach us that one must say the prayer vetakneinu b’eitzah tovah milfanekha, “and remedy us with good counsel from before You,” with extra emphasis, from the depths of the heart.
