How We Work
I’m glad you’re interested enough to look here. With God’s help our relationship will be fruitful and productive, helping you get closer and more comfortable in your relationship with God.
Before you read any further, I must tell you that there are two things required for our relationship to have any hope of succeeding:
- honesty
- determination
If you’re not honest with yourself, you won’t be honest with me. And if you’re not honest with me, I won’t be helping you. I’ll be helping the person you present to me.
You need determination. There were 49 days between the Israelites’ leaving Egypt and their standing at Mount Sinai. It took them 40 years to get from Egypt to the Promised Land. To leave your Egypt and climb the next mountain on the way to your ultimate destination, you have to be in it for the long-haul, ready to forge ahead, come what may.
Still with me? Great!
We meet, by Skype or by Google video-chat (or face to face if you live nearby and would prefer that). Prior to our first meeting, I will ask you to fill out a background questionnaire. When we first talk, I’ll ask you to fill me in on some more details concerning your answers. We will discuss the goals you have and setting up a timetable to meet them. Of course, you’ll get to ask me some questions about me. (If you can’t wait, read this.)
In later meetings we will discuss facets of your life you would like to focus on and teachings that you, or I, think are relevant. For example, we might focus on “rituals” of Judaism and try to extrapolate broader meaning from them; or we might discuss personal or inter-personal areas of your life and see which Torah teachings can be brought to bear on improving them.
